Acknowledging Michael Sims MSC, 90

Michael lives at the Little Sisters of the Poor, Northcote, for many years their chaplain – but still very active with the sisters and residents.
Michael wanted a small celebration, so Dominic Gleeson, Victoria community leader, Peter Hendriks, Director, Heart of Life, Hoa Tran, to be ordained deacon on April 18th were able to join him.

Peter Hendriks writes (and much appreciation for the photos):
When Michael spoke, he reflected that his life has come full circle.

He began in Fitzroy. From there, MSC life carried him across Australia and overseas — and now, here he is, back close to where it all began, in Northcote.
“A full circle,” he said.
And in the very centre of that circle, he placed the Sacred Heart — steady, faithful, constant through it all.
He shared, too, that his mother spent eight years in the same nursing home and celebrated her 90th birthday there. With a mischievous grin, he added, “She died a month later…

Then, as he cut his own birthday cake, he told us what he wished for:
“May I live another year.”
There was laughter — and the residents and staff expressed deep gratitude for who he is. He is very loved there

PS, as the AFL season begins, npt forgetting the Carlton enthusiasm and loyalty!!
