WORLDBREAKER
US, 2025, 95 minutes, Colour.
Billy Boullet, Luke Evans, Mia Jovovich, Meadow Williams.
Directed by Brad Anderson.
A small futuristic story, apocalyptic.
A stitch in the universe has split and strange creatures have entered the world, Worldbreakers. There are stories about the Zodiac and various warriors who have confronted these Worldbreakers. When the Worldbreakers attack humans, they create aggressive hybrids.
The film focuses on a family, a small community, the father a retired warrior, played by Luke Evans, the mother continuing to be a warrior, leading a troop of women, played by Mila Jovovich who had played Joan of Arc as well as heroines of Resident Evil films. But the focus is on the young daughter, played by Billy Boullet, trained by her father, filled with the stories, skilled with the sword.
Ultimately, the daughter encounters a young girl and her family and tries to help – only to find that they are hybrids and that she must escape, her father urging her on, and, finally, her mother and the warriors coming to her rescue.
Brief, some battles and action but a more humane perspective by focusing on the family.
- Futuristic apocalyptic story? Smaller scale, focused, yet cosmic?
- The presupposition, the world, humanity, under siege, the break and the stitch, the invasion of the breakers, attack on humans, forming hybrids, aggressive?
- The atmosphere, the battles, the mythology, the Zodiac, the stories of conflicts, the father telling his daughter the story? The mother, a warrior, her female contingent, loving her daughter, going to the war, saving the world?
- The focus on will, her age, the experience of the Breakers, her mother’s absence, the battles, the tales of the cab Zodiac, her relationship with her father? The isolation, the protection, the plans for the future?
- The father, Eric restored to, his personality, protection?
- The attacks by the Breakers, their appearance, vicious, conflicts, their destruction, their brains?
- Will, the encounter with Rose, her family, the rescue, saving her, the food, the scarcity, not telling her father
- the attack of the Breakers, Rose and her transformation, the attack? The members of the family, the confrontations?
- The decision to go to the coast, the father reassuring his daughter, escape through the forest, aiming for the coast, the boat? The attacks, the fights, we’ll with the sword, killing the Breakers? Her father wounded?
- His telling her to go, her grief, his confronting the Breakers, will and her desperation, the boat, the arrival of her mother with the other boats, saved? Yet, the future?
