Jesus loved with a human heart: with him we proclaim his love to the world.
We work to discover through advocacy, healing and reconciliation, God's presence in our world.
We are to be on earth the heart of God. God has no other heart but ours.

INDUCTION: AFL (NORTHERN TERRITORY) HALL OF FAME
On Saturday October 30, Bro John Pye RIP was inducted into the AFL (Northern Territory) Hall of Fame’s Inaugural List of 25. This was a first time event for the Top End.
The induction took place in the Ballroom of the Holiday Inn. It was a splendid affair with about 300 of Darwin’s glitterati present (plus John Kelliher, Ted Merritt and Malcolm Fyfe!). John Pye’s family was represented by niece, Carmel Vanny and her son, Kevin. In accepting the trophy, Carmel gave a short speech, mentioning that John considered himself as belonging to three families: the Pye family, the MSC family and the Tiwi family.
The citation read:
“Brother John Pye was an extraordinary man who is widely recognized as bringing Australian football to the Tiwi Islands. He used football as a means of promoting relations on both islands where inter-community matches became the norm. Brother Pye was also a key figure in the formation of St. Mary’s Football Club in 1951 and was the driving force behind the creation of the Tiwi Island league in 1969. The Tiwi people still call Bro Pye “Mr Football” two years after his death, such is the high esteem he is held on both islands. His wisdom, enthusiasm, vision and leadership still echo across Bathurst and Melville Islands today in a tremendous tribute to the football imprint he left on both islands.”
