Current News



St Mary’s Towers community, MSC Confreres from Adelaide, Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney and Toowoomba, together with Family members from Adelaide and Parkes joined Sandy Abbey and Tru Nguyen for Sandy and Tru’s profession ceremony as Missionaries of the Sacred Heart for three years.

These vows were witnessed by Tim Brennan, concluding his term as Provincial Superior and John Mulrooney, the incoming Provincial. Tyson Doneley, at 70 years professed was the longest serving MSC present. Sandy and Tru paid warm tributes to Chris McPhee as Novice Master and to others who had shared in their formation.

From February 2011 Sandy and Tru will join the Melbourne MSC Community – living at Cuskelly House in Blackburn where Pat Mara already resides – and  join Pat in undertaking theology studies at Yarra Theological Union.

Tru Duc Nguyen msc is from Adelaide, South Australia. He studied at St Ignatius College, Adelaide. He went on to the University of Adelaide – Graduated Bachelor Science [Maths & Computer Science].  He also attended the Australian Catholic University – Graduated Bachelor of Social Work.  He is 31.



Alexander [Sandy] Abbey msc is from Parkes, NSW.  He studied at Red Bend Catholic College and St Joseph’s College, Hunters Hill. He went on to the University of New South Wales – Graduated 2007, Bachelor of Engineering, Honours Class 1 and worked for SKM - Sinclair Knight Merz – Engineering Sciences – fore one year.  He is 26.
